YouTube Timestamp link generator

Create a YouTube link that starts the video at an exact minute and second. Share the best moment of a video, tutorial or podcast. Free generator.

Share a video from exactly the right moment

Sending someone a 40-minute video and telling them to "skip to around 12 minutes" rarely works. A timestamp link starts playback at the exact second you choose. YouTube supports this with a t parameter, for example https://youtu.be/VIDEO_ID?t=754 starts at 12:34.

Paste the video URL, choose the start time, and the generator gives you a link that jumps straight to that moment. It's especially helpful on mobile, where scrubbing to a precise point is fiddly.

Creators use timestamp links in community posts, newsletters and social media to highlight key moments; teachers and teams use them to point at the exact part of a tutorial or meeting recording.

How to use the youtube timestamp link generator

  1. Copy the YouTube video URL.
  2. Paste it into the YouTube video URL field.
  3. Set the start minute and start second.
  4. Generate the link and share it.

Examples

Start at 1:30

Input:

URL: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ
Minutes: 1, seconds: 30

Output: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ&t=90

The tool converts the time to seconds: 1 × 60 + 30 = 90.

A short youtu.be link

Input:

URL: https://youtu.be/dQw4w9WgXcQ
Minutes: 2, seconds: 5

Output: https://youtu.be/dQw4w9WgXcQ?t=125

A link that already has a time

Input:

URL: ...watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ&t=10
Minutes: 0, seconds: 90

Output: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ&t=90

The old t value is replaced, not duplicated. Seconds above 59 are fine.

Common uses

  • Sharing the best moment of a long video, stream or podcast.
  • Pointing students to a specific step in a tutorial.
  • Referencing a quote in an interview or talk.
  • Highlighting product demos or reviews at the relevant feature.
  • Building tables of contents for long videos in blog posts.

Tips and things to know

  • You can also add chapters to your own videos by listing timestamps in the description, starting with 0:00.
  • If the video is embedded on a website, the embed uses start= instead of t=.
  • Grab the video's thumbnail for your post with the YouTube thumbnail downloader, and tag campaign links with the UTM link generator.

Edge cases and limitations

  • Fill in both fields. Leave minutes as 0 rather than blank: with an empty minutes box, the link ends in t=NaN, which YouTube ignores.
  • There's no hours field. For 1:05:00, enter 65 minutes. The arrow buttons stop at 15, but you can type larger numbers.
  • The URL must start with https://; a link without it isn't recognized.
  • The result updates when you leave a field, so click outside the last box before copying.

Frequently asked questions

How do I link to a specific time in a YouTube video?

Add ?t= followed by the number of seconds (or a format like 1m30s) to the video URL. This tool builds the link for you.

Does it work on the YouTube app?

Yes. Timestamp links open at the right moment in the YouTube mobile app and in browsers.

Can I set an end time?

Regular YouTube links don't support an end time. Embedded players support an end parameter.

Does it work with Shorts?

Shorts are short and loop, so timestamps are rarely useful. Regular videos work best.
