Free tools for writers and editors

Tools that check and clean up drafts, captions and web copy.

16 tools Free to use 25 languages

Writing is the part a chatbot will happily do for you. Editing is different. You need to know that a post fits the character limit, that your headings use the same capitalization, that a pasted article has no leftover HTML tags, and how your sentences sound out loud.

These tools don't rewrite anything. They measure and clean the text you already wrote, so your voice stays yours and the numbers are exact.

All of them are free and available in 25 languages. You can use them without an account, and a free account raises the daily limit.

Common questions

Why listen to my own draft?

Hearing text read aloud exposes missing words, repeated phrases and sentences that run too long, all things the eye skips over when you reread. It is one of the fastest proofreading passes you can do.

Which capitalization style should my headings use?

Pick one and use it everywhere. Capitalizing only the first word reads naturally and suits most news and product headlines. Capitalizing every word looks more formal. In English, strict title case keeps short words such as "and" or "of" in lowercase, so check those by hand.
